Like A Bad Penny…
I keep coming back!
I have booked my airfare, and I will be in Las Vegas from August 18th through September 10th. It's not quite a month, but close enough. Unlike my last stay, I'm not renting a condo, but will be hotel-hopping from place to place according to what kind of deals I can get. Twelve of the nights are already booked at the Venetian, which I'm getting for the ridiculous rate of $30 a night. Who could resist THAT?
The plan for the visit is mostly to play 2/5, with the occasional good structure, modest buy-in tournament thrown into the mix. This trip will be something of a litmus test for me. Can I really pay the bills and have something left over at a non-WSOP time ~ during one of Las Vegas's low seasons?
We shall see.

Have you ever mentioned what you did before you stopped doing whatever it was you were doing to become a fulltime poker player? I'd be interested. Good luck on your Vegas trip.
The Venetian was my favorite poker room and they have excellent deep stack tournament structures. Good luck.
Yes, the Venetian deep stack tournaments are excellent value. Bad players at both buy-in levels. I was in Vegas as the Main Event played down to 9 and if I hadn't done so well in 2/5 NL I'd have played those tournaments for sure.
Something tells me your game doesn't rely on a lot of luck, rather just average or slightly better than average run of cards.
Regardless, good luck!
See you soon!
Of course I leave for Macau on August 18th! But I will return on August 31 and not leave for WPT Cyprus until September 4.
It ain't much but I need to ration myself lest you get tired of me! ;)
GL in Vegas. You are leaving the day I arrive (sept 10th).
What did you do to get the deal at the Venetian?!
@Anonymous (1): By definition, a "slightly better than average run of cards" is lucky! I'm always delighted when I get to enjoy good fortune like that. I don't care HOW good you are, having some hands to work with makes a huge difference in profitability.
@Anonymous (2): I didn't do ANYTHING to get the deal at the V. other than to sign up for a Club Grazie card and use it when I play poker there. I have exactly "0" status points, according to their website. I think they're just desperate to book people in, and figure that if they can get them there on weekdays, some of them will pay for weekends as well. *ahem* Not me! :)
I'm gonna be at the V with my family on 8/27...I already let Grump know, maybe you can join us for a drink...
but I need to call back and ask for a better rate, I'm nowhere near $30
Gone are the days of running into Cardgrrl in AC...I am in LV 8/20-8/23, but I won't be at the 2/5 tables or be staying at the Venetian. I still have diamond dreams, so I will be low-rolling at Harrah's properties and following your exploits via tweets. If you need to build bankroll quickly, this donkey won't be hard to find :)
